The First Turkic Game Jam Successfully Held in Hungary

The Turkic Game Jam 2025, the first event of its kind in Hungary, was successfully held at Óbuda University in Budapest on 12–13 April 2025. The event brought together over 300 young programmers, designers, and storytellers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Hungary, showcasing youth talent and digital innovation rooted in cultural heritage.

The opening ceremony featured remarks by Mr. Tamas Tuske, Innovation and Startup Lead, MeOut Group; Mr. Kanat Ydyrys, Project Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Hungary; Dr. Halide Nur Cafoğlu Yaşar, Counsellor for Educational Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye to Hungary; and Prof. Dr. Kornélia Lazányi, Head of the Mobility Office at Óbuda University.

On behalf of the OTS Representation Office, Mr. Ydyrys welcomed the participants and emphasized the symbolic importance of Hungary joining the Turkic Game Jam platform for the first time. In his address, he highlighted the OTS’s ongoing support for initiatives that merge innovation with cultural identity, underlining the importance of creativity, digital storytelling, and teamwork among youth.

The event was organized by the MeOut Group in partnership with Óbuda University. Over the course of the weekend, participants developed original video game concepts inspired by Turkic history and mythology, guided by expert mentors from both technical and creative fields.

The successful implementation of the Turkic Game Jam 2025 in Budapest reflects the growing relevance of youth-led digital initiatives in the Turkic world and sets a promising precedent for future collaboration.
