The Drought Prevention Institute of the Organization of Turkic States Held its Board Meeting in Budapest

On April 30, 2025 the Drought Prevention Institute (DPI) of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) convened its Board meeting in Budapest. It was attended by Ambassador Balázs Hendrich, the Chair of the Board, by Merey Mukazhan, the Deputy Secretary General of the OTS and Farid Mammadov, a Project Manager of the OTS Secretariat, as well as by two Hungarian members of the Board, Dr. László Örlős (HEPA) and Dr. József Zsembeli (Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, MATE). The participants exchanged their views on the following issues: cooperative strategies for mitigating the impact of droughts, enhancing the efforts aimed at water conservation, as well as promoting innovative technologies for sustainable agriculture. The other key topics on the agenda included the development of a unified drought response strategy, the implementation of the ongoing projects and the financing of the possible future projects undertaken by DPI. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to fostering regional cooperation, as well as sharing collective expertise to ensure water security and resilience for future generations.
